jolira staff has been building and supporting mission-critical software applications since the 1980s. Today, for the most part, we are focusing on building mobile applications for very large enterprises. Our core expertise is in writing writing HTML5-based mobile web-applications, but we also provide support with native or hybrid applications.

We have a lot of experience in the startup as well as the enterprise environment. We know how to lead software teams and make them more productive. We most often provide leadership in management and systems architecture roles, but we also help augment teams throughout the development process by providing developers, QA staff, as well as project management and production support. In addition to on-site staff augmentation we are also providing on-shore outsourcing from our headquarters in San Francisco, CA.

Technologies

Since the 1980s we have worked with more languages and platforms than we like to admit. Our focus, for a long time, has been Services-Oriented Middleware and web-based applications on Linux-based servers. We have done a lot of work with Java-based systems, but do not necessarily believe this is the right technology stack for most customers. We think that newer technologies, such as the ones provided by the node.js community, create much better values most organizations today.

We believe that iPhone & Android applications are great (and we like building them), but we think that users much rather interact with well-design web-sites, even on their fancy new phones.

We believe that that RDBMS systems have their place. After working with them for over two decades, we just do not know any longer what that place really is. We prefer scalable systems such as Cassandra, CouchDB, or MongoDB over Oracle or DB2.

We prefer open-source product as they are usually of better quality and have better support than traditional products. We would rather not work with products from Microsoft. We believe that Apple is similarly evil, but they at last produce wonderfully designed products.
